Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry/Clinical Lead for NICPM

Job Overview 

This vacancy is a 10 PA substantive post in Liaison Psychiatry / Psychological Medicine at the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine - NICPM - currently based at Leeds General Infirmary.

The NICPM delivers multidisciplinary biopsychosocial care for people with severe and complex medically unexplained physical symptoms (MUS). It is currently an eight-bed specialist inpatient unit for adults, but with plans for potential expansion of the service in due course.

The NICPM is part of the wider Liaison Psychiatry Service in Leeds

Main duties of the job

As a Consultant in Psychological Medicine at the NICPM:

To work within, and provide overall clinical direction to, the multidisciplinary team (MDT) at the NICPM, in providing a national centre service for severe and complex cases of medically unexplained physical symptoms (MUS).

To attend and lead the regular MDT / patient review meetings relating to all patients within this specialist tertiary inpatient service.

To provide senior medical / psychiatric expertise, clinical supervision, and direction within the multidisciplinary team, in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, formulation and management of patients suffering with severe and complex MUS presentations.

Consultant Psychiatry - WAA CMHT Consultant

Job Overview 

The post holder will work with the team to develop a therapeutic and holistic model based on psychological formulation, safety planning, risk management and trauma informed care that can then facilitate community based treatment and minimise hospital admission. The postholder will provide expert advice and consultancy, supported by the MDT, which will positively influence change in the current system of CMHT with a positive impact on hospital admission and home based treatment.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work with the community team, in liaison with the inpatient and intensive support service when applicable, to facilitate effective and therapeutic transitions and discharge plans back into the community. There is no inpatient work.

Duties will be in line with those of a Consultant Psychiatrist in a community setting. The post holder will be responsible, alongside the MDT for assessment and management of referrals accepted by the CMHT of those with mood and psychotic disorders, trauma based presentations and personality disorder. Given the nature of the work, there will be responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act (CTOs)  including representation at tribunal hearings and assessing consent to treatment.

There will be a requirement for significant liaison with colleagues to facilitate transitions, planning care and discharge.

Clinical Pharmacist (Post Registration)

Job Overview 

Due to promotions, we are looking for motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join our pharmacy team. Your role would be to provide high quality pharmaceutical care to inpatient and community mental health service users in Leeds by way of clinical interventions, medicines information and education and training. We have four sites across Leeds each with a subspecialty, which as part of a rotation you will gain extensive experience of.

You will ideally have had some experience of working in secondary care although not essential. Good organisational and communication skills are essential as is an interest in mental health. We welcome applications from pharmacists working across all sectors (including those newly qualified), and would be looking for successful candidates to start in 2022.

In return, we will support your personal and continued professional development in general and mental health pharmacy by way of in-house training or postgraduate programmes as relevant.

Main duties of the job

As a clinical pharmacist in LYPFT, you will develop medicines knowledge and skills with the support of a training programme to advise clinical and healthcare teams on the safe and appropriate use of mental health medicines. You will have a clinical role working with ward / clinical teams and also work independently to support medicines optimisation for service users of LYPFT.

You will have opportunities to develop your training skills and educate yourself and others with regards to mental health medicines, develop your leadership and operational management skills and take part in quality improvement and service developments. We have a range of general and specialist mental health services including inpatient Adult and Older Peoples, Forensic, Recovery and Rehabilitation and community psychiatric care to the population of Leeds, forensic and CAMHS services to the population of York and tertiary specialist services such as Child and Adolescent Services and the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine for you to gain exposure of and experience within.
