The prescribing landscape frequently changes and there are often new updates in prescribing regimes and the framework and guidelines that support this provision. Kirsty Fishburn, Mental Health Lecturer and Course Leader for Non-Medical Prescribing at University of Hull will teach the day with the aim to update existing prescribers and those thinking about becoming prescribers, examining how we maintain competence and confidence that underpin contemporary prescribing practice.

There is currently no requirement to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) once qualified as a prescriber. This session plans to look at what has recently changed within prescribing, analysing any recent policy and guideline changes. It will explore the new role of the Designated prescribing Practitioner (DPP) under the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) framework. To explore how this role has evolved and what that means to existing prescribers. Also, a session on how do we maintain competence and confidence in our prescribing practice.
