Neuropsychiatry is a tertiary branch of psychiatry with a primary focus on diagnosing and treating psychiatric complications of known or suspected neurological disease/acquired brain injury. Another key area of practice involves carrying out diagnostic work where psychiatric presentations have atypical qualities and are suspected to be associated with organic disease. Specialist areas of practice include epilepsy, tic disorders, neurodegenerative disease, sleep medicine, traumatic brain injury and functional neurological disorders.

Drs Rachel Thomasson and Richard Hackett, Consultant Neuropsychiatrists from Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, will cover a range of core neuropsychiatry topics using lectures and small group case-based problem solving. Delegates will obtain a practical overview of core topics in neuropsychiatry, including movement disorders, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury and inflammatory brain disease.

This course is for Psychiatrists of all training grades, Neurologists, Psychologists and Medical Students; the course is eligible to 6 CPD points.
