Autism in women and girls is frequently underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed. This talk explores the latest understanding of autism in females including clinical challenges and the need for nuanced assessment pathways. National guidelines such as NICE CG128 and NG170 emphasise early equitable identification- yet significant diagnostic
delays persist. Join us for a critical discussion on improving diagnostic
accuracy and outcomes for women and girls.

The purpose of talk will be to increase understanding of how the autistic experience may present in women and girls and how this impacts on the diagnostic process.

After attending this course delegates will be able to…

  • Recognise more accurate indicators of the autistic experience in women and girls
  • Consider traditional tools for diagnosing autism and their suitability for use with women and girls
  • Understand how biological factors such as puberty, pregnancy and menopause impact

Suitability

This course offers 3 CPD points and is suitable Consultant Psychiatrist working within autism services and SAS Doctors.
