Book EventThe purpose of the talk will be to introduce delegates to a way of working grounded in an evidence based therapeutic approach (mentalising) which enables relationships to be therapeutic and effective. Dr Jo Ramsden, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust will cover the framework to explain the way in which trauma affects relationships and use this to help delegates understand what we mean by ‘personality disorder’, specifically ‘borderline personality disorder’. The session will introduce delegates to mentalising as a concept, discuss ways of conceptualising how helping/caring relationships can contribute (inadvertently) to the problems associated with ‘personality disorder’ using a mentalising frame and discuss tips, suggestions and reflections on how to work well using a mentalising frame.
After attending this course delegates will be able to…
- Formulate difficult relational dynamics
- Put in place the conditions for effective relational practice
- Work with systems to ensure the structures are in place to support relational practice
