Masterclass: Compassionate Leadership in Mental Health

The Kings Fund have promoted compassionate leadership for several years and at a recent event for psychiatrists this was challenged as being present in NHS mental health services. This course will describe some attempts to work through what compassionate leadership looks like on the ground.

Dr David Sims, Medical Director at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, will reflect on approaches to compassionate leadership in trust example. Delegates will start by talking with service users and clinicians on their experience and what could be better. You will hear about how compassionate leadership is built in trauma informed care and have a coaching approach to go away with a plan to implement.
