The Andrew Sims Centre organises a variety of courses for medical and healthcare professionals.

Mental Health Law

All Mental Health Law courses ran by the Andrew Sims Centre are accredited by North of England Approvals Panel, and presented by our established Mental Health Law team: Dr Nick Brindle, retired Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist from Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Zumer Jawaid, Director of CPD and Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist from Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Mr Michael Hurwood, retired Solicitor. We recommend you contact your local approvals panel to check which course is suitable for you and for full criteria on your approvals as attendance at these courses is only one part of your approval.

Conferences

Our Conferences are full day events that often focus on a specific subject within mental health and learning disabilities. The session will include multiple speakers who are experts in their field. The aim is to provide an advanced, in-depth update, appropriate for experienced practitioners. These training courses are suitable for your CPD portfolio and are suitable for experienced mental health and learning disabilities practitioners who already have knowledge or experience in the subject area.

Workshops

Our Workshops are full day training courses which cover a wide variety of topics in professional development and healthcare, specifically in mental health and learning disabilities. Each workshop is ran by an expert speaker and aims to provide an update for experienced practitioners.

Our Essential courses are half-day sessions that cover a wide range of topics in mental health and learning disabilities, delivered by acknowledged experts in the field.  The aim is to provide an introductory session, covering basic principles and  practical scenarios, suitable for those with
limited experience in the specific subject area. These sessions are also suitable for more experienced practitioners who wish to refresh, improve and update their knowledge, and are suitable for your CPD portfolio. These sessions are for medical and healthcare professionals looking to improve their knowledge and skills and with an interest in the subject area.

Partnership

The Andrew Sims Centre provides an Event Management service to stakeholders and organisations, further information can be found here. A Partnership event are often bespoke training for a closed group, which will be mentioned on the booking webpage for the specific course.
