Young people often demonstrate sexual behaviours; Sometimes these are concerning, usually they are not. The tricky part is deciding when and where resources should be focused. This course explores key pieces of research addressing the topic and consider how practitioner confidence can be increased when supporting young people who sexually harm. Practitioners would benefit from knowing when a young person’s sexualised behaviour is a cause for concern. Jenny Greensmith, Harmful Sexual Behaviour Specialist and Co-Director of Safer Lives, will explore with delegates how to decide which behaviours warrant further action and what those actions may be.
After attending this course delegates will be able to:
- Understand the differences between appropriate, problematic and harmful sexual behaviours when demonstrated by young people.
- Know when a young person requires a more specialist assessment and intervention and where to seek these.
