Using Theraplay in Therapeutic Practice with Children

Led by Dr Jacqueline Lynch, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and registered manager for Chrysalis Associates, this talk will look at case studies of children and teenagers who have experienced developmental trauma and look at how Theraplay could be an effective intervention method for them. It will work with participants to identify if this would be an effective intervention for your service and discuss routes for training. This training will not lead to a qualification in Theraplay practice. We will cover a brief overview of the types of children who would benefit from Theraplay, an overview of executive functioning an how Theraplay can help with this as well as looking at the overview of the neurological basis of Theraplay and the use of case studies to look at how Theraply has been used.
After attending this course delegates will be able to:
- Identify children and adolescents who would benefit from Theraplay
- Identify how to develop Theraplay in your workplace
- To Identify the best training route for your service
